Arrow Comics, in conjunction with Sisters Comics, is proud to announce their continued return to publishing with Owosso Taco House Funnies #1 officially at the printers with a projected release date of the first week in May. Being a “tip of the hat” to those great old style “underground” style comics, The Taco House book offers a wide variety of comics and fun from many diverse hands all celebrating a real Michigan landmark.
The Owosso Taco House is a regional family owned staple of the Mid-Michigan area, celebrating their 38th year in business, with the reputation of top-notch classic Mexican food in the home cooked tradition. It was no wonder when looking for a halfway point for a visit from Sisters Comics and Arrow Comics, two regional Michigan comics publishers, both were surprised that they not only knew of “The House” but both had nothing but fond memories of the place. “Surprised, I suggested that The Taco House was timeless and was the kind of place that we should celebrate as a comic”, Arrow Comics publisher Randy Zimmerman said. “Over the next half year, and many Taco House meetings (as well as Taco Dinners) later, the book took shape and we can’t be more proud of it.”
Carrying the headline “Comics With Extra Cheese”, Owosso Taco House Funnies #1 features short stories of Sisters Comic’s See-Thru Baby, The Scribble Monster, Lucky The One-Eyed Stray Dog, as well as Arrow Comic’s Hero Bot Zero (formerly known as Battle Bot), Little Michael Taylor, and a brand new creation; Black Belt Perez. Also included are selected shorts (Like The Fable Of The House by Levi Krause, and Top Ten Silly Questions Asked @ The Taco House by Zimm), as well as games and puzzles and other great fun. “This is meant to be a fun book for EVERYONE, young and old alike, whether you know about The Taco House or not, frankly it’s just an awesome fun product.” Randy Zimmerman added.
Currently at the printers Owosso Taco House Funnies #1 carries a cover price of three dollars and will be available in as many outlets as possible. Wholesale rates are available for any retail outlets, local or otherwise, and copies will be available from Sisters Comics as well as Arrow Comics at their sites or their upcoming convention appearances. Other distributors are being sought as well, plus copies will be offered at the Taco House itself. A portion of the proceeds of the book will go towards Autism Awareness. The back cover is the actual Taco House menu, but please keep in mind they are a family owned business and only deliver within a limited area.
